Sasikumar says no to college promotions; 'My Lord' actor takes a firm stand on campus marketing
Actor-director Sasikumar firmly opposes film promotions in colleges, advocating for educational spaces to remain free from advertisements. He believes students should prioritize academics over fleeting celebrity visits. This stance, highlighted during the promotion of his upcoming film 'My Lord', underscores his commitment to content-driven cinema and the sanctity of learning environments.
Sasikumar, a versatile actor-director, stands with a strong and unequivocal testimony against the promotion of films in colleges, in the sense that he cannot support the organization of film-related events in educational institutions and will never take the responsibility to promote them. During the promotion of his imminent movie 'My Lord', Sasikumar expressed his views on college campuses by saying that there should be diverse places for education and knowledge, not for film advertisements. He added that only in unavoidable situations, such as pressure from producers, would he even consider such promotions, making his stand one of the most direct opinions expressed by a mainstream actor on this trend.

Cinema marketing vs college education

In chat with SS Music, Sasikumar explained his view in simple terms. According to him, students enjoy celebrities visiting their campus, but the effect of the visit is short-lived. He believes that colleges should focus on academics and personal growth, not celebrity culture. “Students will enjoy the moment and move on. Education must come first,” he said, stressing that cinema should not replace learning spaces.
His words have struck a chord, especially as college promotions have become common in recent years.

'My Lord' promotions and film details

The comments come at a time when Sasikumar is actively promoting 'My Lord', a film directed by Raju Murugan. The film features Chaitra, Asha Sarath, Guru Somasundaram, Jayaprakash, Gopi Nainar, and Vasu Mitra in key roles, with music by Sean Roldan. The trailer has raised expectations, and the film is set to release on February 13. Their instruction is about kidney trafficking and racketeering, thus making the crime filled and social in nature.

Content-driven films and Sasikumar’s values

Sasikumar’s career decisions back up his claim. After ‘Ayothi’, his films like ‘Garudan’, ‘Nandhan’, and ‘Tourist Family’ are packed with content and received positively. It isn’t just a comment to increase a marketing campaign, this declaration goes out to him that film has many platforms, but classrooms are not designed to market films.
