No hidden charges: Hry orders pvt schools to declare full fee structure

GURGAON: Directorate of School Education of Haryana has made it compulsory for private schools to submit Form VI, a self-declaration of fee structure, teacher salaries and compliance with regulations, for 2026-27 academic session. Schools will not be able to increase the fee without submitting the form to the department, officials said, adding that they may also get their management information system (MIS) accounts blocked if the form is not submitted. "This is to stop arbitrary fee hikes and improve accountability in private schools. By making Form VI submission mandatory and digital, the govt wants to ensure that all fee-related information is recorded and easily accessible for verification. Schools are required to mention every fee component in advance, leaving little scope for additional or undisclosed charges during the session," said a senior official. To make the system simpler and more transparent, the department has divided fees into two categories, mandatory and optional. Mandatory fee includes essential charges such as registration, admission (for classes 1, 6, 9 and 11), and board examination fee. The optional fee covers services like transport, hostel, and mess facilities, which parents can choose based on their needs. Authorities have said that if any fee is not listed in Form VI, it cannot be charged from parents. In addition, schools have been directed to publicly display their Form VI on notice boards as well as on their official websites. Officials believe the decision will bring much-needed relief to parents who often face unexpected financial burdens due to unannounced fee increases. At the same time, it puts pressure on private schools to follow rules strictly and maintain transparency. With deadlines nearing, schools across Haryana are now rushing to complete their online submissions.
