Gurgaon: A 26-year-old delivery executive died during treatment days after being hit by an unidentified vehicle in Udyog Vihar Phase IV.The deceased, Safar Kumar, was employed with logistics firm Porter and used a company-provided scooter for daily operations.

According to a complaint filed by his sister, Sandesha Kumari, Safar left home around 8am on Jan 17 for work. Around 5.30pm, while making deliveries in Udyog Vihar Phase IV on an EV scooter, he was hit by a speeding unidentified vehicle near plots 247 and 248. "The impact threw him off the scooter, leaving him critically injured. The driver fled the spot after the collision," a police officer said.Safar's friends, Aman and Nitesh, took him home and informed the family. He had visible injuries, including bleeding from the nose, injury marks near his right eye and wounds on his left leg. The family first took him to Shiva Hospital near Sheetla Mandir, from where he was referred to a higher medical facility with neurosurgical support. Safar, who lived with his mother and sister in Dharam Colony, Palam Extension, was later admitted to Signature Hospital in Sector 37D, where he remained under treatment for three days before succumbing to his injuries on Jan 20.
Police said they learned about the incident during a night patrol on Jan 20 and subsequently collected medico-legal documents and death intimation. After the family approached the Udyog Vihar police station, an FIR was registered on Jan 21 under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of BNS.An autopsy was conducted at General Hospital mortuary in Gurgaon, after which the body was handed over to the family. Police said CCTV footage from the area is being examined to trace the vehicle and driver involved in the hit-and-run.
