Panaji: Goa’s real estate sector requires planned development of the limited land available for housing, said realtors on Monday. The Town and Country Planning department needs to permit conversion of land in a planned manner, based on scientific studies and a need based assessment, said chairman of the Goa Association of Realtors, Amit Chopra.
Chopra was speaking at the launch of an app that aims to strengthen the connect for the stakeholders in the real estate sector.
Launched by the National Association of Realtors, the app will provide all the needed news and information for realtors and also help address business queries.
“Housing is a requirement and housing needs have to be planned. Unplanned housing, conversions happening anywhere, are not what is required,” said Chopra. “Planned conversions, plans that sustain our environment are the need of the hour and that is what we have to look at.”
Chopra said that unplanned development, which does not take the environmental impact into account, is harmful for Goa. He also said that Goa’s affordable housing sector faces distress.
Meanwhile, the NAR India mobile app will include features like news, latest trends in real estate, webinars, business exchange programs, membership opportunities and business queries.
“This is a great step towards further improving our networking opportunities and will provide more business opportunities for members and even non-members. We are glad to be able to provide an all-in-one platform to our stakeholders. Technological advancement has always been the vision for NAR India and we are proud to apply this to our business,” said president of NAR (India) Samir Arora.
