TOI sweeps GUJ journalism awards across categories
From investigative and rural reporting to page design and from best photographs to sports reporting, The Times of India came out top across various categories, winning a total of 15 awards at the Goa Union of Journalists’ (GUJ) Journalism Awards for 2023, 2024 and 2025 that were announced on Saturday.
Rakesh Mundye won four individual awards in environmental photography, excellence in photo journalism and page design, while Marcus Mergulhao (sports, art & culture), Gauree Malkarnekar (art & culture, environment, rural reporting) and Newton Sequeira (investigative journalism, environment) won three awards each. Sharmila Coutinho won two of the three awards for excellence in layout and page design.
TOI’s Bicholim correspondent Rajesh Chodankar will be felicitated for his work as a mofussil journalist.
The GUJ Journalism Awards will be handed over next month at the hands of chief minister Pramod Sawant and leader of opposition Yuri Alemao.
