Taluka-level meetings to be held over NEP implementation
Panaji: As the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 will be extended to all classes from the new academic year 2026-27, taluka-level consultations will be held across all sub-districts for stakeholders by state education officials, starting Monday with Bardez. Schools have been told to appoint one representative each from the Parent Teacher Associations to attend the orientation session.
The consultation is being held for parents, teachers and school management committees of all primary, middle and high school govt, govt-aided and unaided schools.
“NEP envisages a transformational shift in school education with a strong emphasis on school leadership, stakeholder participation and community engagement for its effective implementation at the grassroots level. In this context, Goa State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) is organising a taluka-wise detailed orientation programme,” SCERT has told schools.
The programme aims to sensitise parents and management members about the key provisions of NEP-2020, recent curricular and assessment reforms, and their critical role in supporting schools during the implementation process, SCERT said in a circular.
“It shall be ensured that members of the school management committee of primary schools and the PTA committee of high schools, along with the head of the institution/in-charge/authorised representative of primary, middle and high schools, attend the orientation programme without fail. However, the total number of participants from each school shall be restricted to a maximum of eight members. The participation of the above stakeholders is mandatory, considering the significance of the programme in the larger interest of effective NEP-2020 implementation,” SCERT said.
From the academic year 2026-27, state govt has decided to implement NEP in all classes of state board-affiliated schools. Until 2025-26, NEP was implemented at the nursery level, in Class III, Class VI, Classes IX and X. From the new session, it will be implemented in Classes I-II, IV-V, and VII-VIII.
