Goa tragedy: 6-yr-old girl raped by man engaged to drop her off, pick her up from school; arrested

PANAJI: Porvorim police have arrested a man for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl. The man was hired to pick up and drop off the minor girl at school, Porvorim PI Rahul Parab said.

Porvorim police registered an FIR based on the complaint lodged by the mother of the girl. Police said that prior to Nov 2025, at various places in Porvorim, the accused allegedly touched private parts of the girl. “Thereafter, he sexually abused/assaulted and raped her,” Parab said, adding that the accused also assaulted and threatened the minor girl.


The girl was medically examined at GMC, Bambolim, where the medical officer suggested there is evidence of sexual assault on her. The accused was immediately traced by Porvorim police and arrested, Parab said.

The accused was produced before the JMFC, Mapusa, where he was remanded in four days of police custody.

Later on Tuesday evening, some people gathered outside the house of the accused, demanding action against him and that his family not be allowed to live in the village. Police told the villagers that he has already been arrested, and that further action would be taken against him in accordance with the law. A panch who was at the spot told agitated villagers that the panchayat would intervene.
