Ponda KTC underpass nearing completion
Ponda: The Ponda KTC underpass is nearing completion, with both side approach roads of the one-way lane nearing completion.
Once completed, the national highway division will begin construction of the next lane. Assistant engineer of NH, Ponda, Chanda Parwar said that the upcoming work on the Shapur-Bhoma national highway was sanctioned by the Union ministry of road transport and highways (MoRTH). The underpass will provide a safer route to motorists to reach KTC bus stand and also benefit residents of Chirputem and Shahpur. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) had issued a stop-work notice, stating that the work falls within a 100m radius of the Safa Masjid, a protected monument. Officials have informed ASI that the work is beyond the 100m limit.
MoRTH approved the project in mid-Feb 2021
. A tender worth Rs 97cr was floated in March 2021 for the underpass, approach road to the Khandepar bridge, completion of the four-lane road at Angadi-Khandepar.
