Khola resolves to install CCTV at key locations

Canacona: The Khola gram sabha on Sunday unanimously resolved to install CCTV cameras and signboards at key locations across the village. Sarpanch Tejal Ajay Pagi said it was decided to install CCTV cameras at Saleri, Vaghonn, Molorem and Gaval-Khola, while signboards will be erected at the entrances to Saleri, Nuem in Cananguinim, Vaghonn and Cabo de Rama.The issue of businesses operated by non-locals was also discussed at the meeting. Prashant Kholkar, a local resident, said the panchayat should not issue NOCs to businesses owned by persons from outside the village.Pagi said no fresh licences have been issued. Only two licences issued by the previous panchayat body were renewed.Garbage management was another key issue discussed during the gram sabha. It was decided that each ward should have a fixed timetable for waste collection, with wet and dry waste being collected simultaneously. Some villagers said that separate timings for the collection of wet and dry waste had caused inconvenience to residents.Pagi said the panchayat has only one truck and two labourers to carry out waste collection and management work.The condition of the Saleri bridge was also discussed at the gram sabha. Panchayat members will shortly meet PWD officials regarding the issue, and a fresh date for inspection of the bridge will be fixed soon.Nearly 40 villagers attended the meeting and actively participated in the discussions.
