Industries must support govt by recruiting local youths: CM Pramod Sawant

Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said state govt has offered ample infrastructural support to the industrial estates and that it was now industries’ turn to give back to the state by hiring Goan youth. He said 1,300 youths will be handed offer letters by May 2 or 3, after a recruitment drive was held in collaboration with Verna industrial estate, and that if similar drives are held each month by a different industrial estate, it will help Goa govt eliminate unemployment.

“We speak of ‘Make in Goa’, ‘Make for the world’, ‘Make for India’, but the most important aspect of it is making it with Goans. No doubt, all of you (industries) take the initiative. But we have often seen that when fewer Goans are engaged by industry, we have had to draw on human resource from regions like Sindhudurg and Karwar,” the CM told industry representatives at the Goa Occupational and Health Safety Expo, 2026.

“We have always supported industrial estates with infrastructure. Now it is your time to support govt, Goan youths and the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation,” said Sawant.
