Goa sign Jerry as cover at left-back

Panaji: Defender Jerry Lalrinzuala is the latest addition to the FC Goa squad.
With Jay Gupta moving to East Bengal and Sanatomba Singh to Hyderabad FC, Goa were short on a left-back. That spot has now been filled with the signing of the experienced defender.
“Jerry was on trial for about a week and did enough to earn a season-long contract,” said a senior official. “He is good with the ball, has experience, but fitness was a concern. Jerry has proved that he can be a good option.”
Jerry will be a back-up for first choice Aakash Sangwan.
According to club sources, he played the later stages of the friendly against Mohun Bagan Super Giant in Kolkata and did enough to convince coach Manolo Marquez that he can count on him, if needed.
A former Emerging Player of the Year in the Indian Super League (ISL), Jerry represented Odisha FC last season. He made 19 appearances overall and played 1,251 minutes. Jerry started in 17 of these appearances across their 24 fixtures and came on as a substitute on two occasions.
The 27-year-old has previously played for Chennaiyin FC and East Bengal.
