FIR against Borkar, 21 others for alleged theft of files from TCP office
Panaji: Goa police on Thursday registered a first information report (FIR) against St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar, RG president Manoj Parab, 20 Siridao villagers, and others for allegedly committing theft of 10 files and criminal trespass at the TCP office at Patto.
Other names in the FIR include Vasu Kunkolkar, Tushar Gawas, Ajay Kholkar, Bhupesh Shirodkar, Trupti Bhakal, Smita Shirodkar, Regna Kundaikar, Swapnesh Shrelekar, Hanumant Shirodkar, Nali Kankonkar, Manish Kankonkar, Sham Kunkolkar, Sunil Kankonkar, Nikita Shirodkar, and other supporters.
Vinod Kumar Chandra, town planner, in his complaint, said that on Feb 20, Borkar and others, including 20 women and men from Siridao, visited the TCP office and submitted a representation regarding a change of zone carried out under Section 39A of the TCP Act in the village.
Chandra said that in the representation, they demanded to revoke and cancel the change of zone carried out in St Andre constituency.
“After meeting and submitting the representation to the chief town planner, the villagers forcibly sat outside the cabin of the chief town planner and orally informed that, until action is initiated on their representation, they will not leave the office premises,” Chandra said.
The chief town planner submitted the representation to govt for directions on the same day, and accordingly, Borkar was informed that their representation was forwarded to govt and they were requested to leave the office premises, as necessary action as per their representation was taken.
“However, they refused to leave the office premises and halted for the entire intervening night of Feb 20 and Feb 21,” Chandra added. “I came to know from the staff that during the night more people entered our office premises, namely Swapnesh Shrelekar, Parab, and other supporters, to support the agitators.”
The town planner said that staff also told him that agitators were moving in every section of the office, and they removed all standing fans from different areas, which they used without consent.
As the agitators were not moving out of the office, the chief town planner requested PI Panaji and the mamlatdar to remove the agitators from the office premises. Due to the above act, the office staff were unable to move from their respective seats, and the agitators restrained them in one place and obstructed staff from doing their regular work, the complaint stated.
On Feb 21, all the agitators sitting inside the office premises were removed by the police. After the staff were vacated from the office, they locked the premises.
“On Feb 23, all the staff of TCP resumed their duties, and it was revealed that about 10 files from the TCP department were missing. I say that the agitators committed the theft of office files of the TCP department and request to register an FIR against the above agitators and take necessary action as per law,” Chandra said.
