GHAZIABAD: Residents of Naipura, one of the
hotspot
areas of
Ghaziabad, claim that they are facing a huge problem in getting essential items as the vendors, authorised by the district administration, have failed to provide sufficient fruits and vegetables.
Getting milk remains one of the toughest tasks for the residents since the local delivery boys are being allegedly chased away by the police. Though milk vans are allowed till the main gate of the colonies, some said, they have to stand for hours to get it.
Residents have now written to the district magistrate, asking him to rectify the situation.
Krishna Bansal, a resident and councillor of Naipura said, there are more than 200 families living in this area while the vendors are giving the essential items for only a hundred families. “The condition here is very pathetic. Residents are forced to borrow essential items from their neighbours for survival,” he added.
Also, very few people in the area know how to order essential items from online grocery stores. “Even if we order from BigBasket and other, we have to walk for over a kilometre to fetch the items,” Shaheen Khan, another resident of Naipura told TOI.
Many say, they are not even able to place their orders through phone numbers provided by the administration as either the calls are getting dropped or not getting connected at all.
Meanwhile, Khalid Anjum, the sub-divisional magistrate of Loni said the administration has provided all the essential items in sufficient quantity, however, if people are complaining about it, he will look into the matter. “I have authorised two vegetable vendors who set up their shops at two different locations and one person for groceries. People are purchasing items and those who do not have the money, the administration is providing them with all the essential items. Today, we have provided raw ration to around 40-45 families in Naipura area,” he added.
