Ghaziabad: A 20-year-old man working at an eatery in
Loni
was allegedly beaten to death by a colleague and other staffers after an altercation over money. Although a complaint has been lodged against the owner and his younger brother as well, police said preliminary investigation had revealed they were not at the spot when the alleged murder took place.
Imraan, who lived in Tronica City with his parents, had been working as a cashier at Salaam Hotel for the past six months.
“My son was studying law and was in the first year of LLB. When I could not afford his education for my ill health, he took up the job of a cashier at the eatery. He would earn Rs 400 a day,” said Babududdin, Imraan’s father.
In his complaint, Babududdin has named Salaam, the hotel owner, his brother
Kuyum
, manager Ehsaan and a few other staffers. “My son-in-law works at the same hotel. Around 8pm on Wednesday, he informed me that Imraan was being beaten up with sticks by the hotel owner and other staffers. We rushed to the hotel and took Imraan to a nearby hospital. But he was referred to GTB hospital in Delhi, where he died during treatment on Thursday,” he said.
SP (rural)
Iraj Raja
said a murder case had been lodged against the accused. “Initial investigation revealed that the hotel had two cashiers. Apart from Imraan, there was one
Mohammad Umar (21), who also maintained the accounts. On Wednesday, both had an argument over some calculation mistake and Imraan slapped Umar. This led to a fight and the two exchanged blows. CCTV footage shows the two fighting with each other.
Umar
is absconding,” he added.
“But we are investigating the case from all angles. Preliminary investigation has shown that the hotel owner and his younger brother were not at the spot when the alleged murder took place,” the senior officer said.
