Ghaziabad: NCR Transport Corporation, which operates the rapid rail, and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation have signed an MoU for integrated QR-coded ticketing that will allow commuters to use mobile apps of either system while travelling on the other or switch between the two. Both the DMRC and NCRTC ticketing systems will enable the generation of a unique Delhi Metro QR code on the RRTS Connect App, and similarly, a ticket for a Namo Bharat ride can be booked on the DMRC mobile app.A similar tie-up was launched earlier this month between NCRTC and Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) that allows commuters to book rapid rail tickets for daily commutes or club it with the tickets for the Indian railways up to 120 days in advance, aligning with the current Railway reservation window (ARP).“Rapid rail stations are strategically located nearby or integrated with the railway and metro stations and bus depots. The initiative further eliminates the need to switch between different ticketing apps when transitioning between NCRTC and DMRC networks,” an NCRTC official said.The integrated ticketing option is also expected to reduce queues at NCRTC and DMRC stations, and encourage commuters to switch to digital transactions and rail-based green transportation for travel within Delhi-NCR.It is also in line with the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (PMGS-NMP), launched on Oct 13, 2021, for providing multimodal connectivity infrastructure to various economic zones.Currently operational on a 42km stretch from Sahibabad to Meerut South, the rapid rail corridor is seamlessly connected to the 393km Delhi Metro network, intersecting at stations like Nizamuddin/ Sarai Kale Khan, Anand Vihar and Ghaziabad.

The Rapid Rail train made history by covering 42km from Sahibabad to Meerut South in 30 minutes, enhancing urban connectivity between Delhi and Meerut. This milestone for Indias first semi-high speed urban train system will cut travel time significantly, benefiting commuters and boosting real estate development in the region. Full operation is expected by June 2025.

Yerawada Metro station to open for commuters today

The Yerawada Metro station on the Vanaz-Ramwadi route in Pune opened for commuters, following a delay due to work on its entry-exit points. The station benefits local workers and will not affect the existing timetable. Safety inspections were conducted, and all formalities completed before its opening.
