Two brothers drown in canal near Erode

ERODE: Two brothers drowned in the Lower Bhavani Project canal in Erode district on Friday evening.The deceased have been identified as Santosh, 18, and Sanjay, 15 -- sons of S Bhupathi of Musiri in Trichy district.Bhupathi brought his two sons to their maternal uncle’s house at Arachalur in Erode district. "While bathing in the LBP canal at Arachalur, the siblings got trapped in the slush and drowned," said an officer at Arachalur police station.On being alerted, fire and rescue services personnel from Chennimalai rushed to the spot. They recovered both bodies and sent them to the Erode Government Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.The Arachalur police registered a case and began investigations.
