New Delhi: Traffic snarls were reported in south Delhi over the weekend, particularly around popular landmarks such as Sunder Nursery, Humayun’s Tomb and Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah. The heavy influx of visitors, combined with ongoing fest in the area, contributed to severe congestion on the surrounding roads.Commuters reported experiencing long traffic snarls, which resulted in extended waiting times and caused delays in reaching their destinations. They expressed frustration, noting that what would normally be a short drive turned into a prolonged journey, affecting their schedules.“As per report of traffic inspector Lajpat Nagar, traffic remains heavy in and around Sunder Nursery due to high weekend footfall at Sunder Nursery, Humayun’s Tomb and Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah. Additionally, Bharat Tribes Fest is currently ongoing at Sunder Nursery. Traffic staff is deployed on the ground, and traffic is being monitored and regulated,” Delhi Traffic Police posted on X.Mukesh, a commuter and a resident of East of Kailash, said, “The Sarai Kale Khan flyover was completely jam-packed today.
Normally, traveling from East of Kailash to ITO takes around 30 minutes, but due to the heavy traffic congestion, it took me well over an hour. The situation was made even more uncomfortable by the hot and humid conditions, which added to the frustration of being stuck in the gridlock.”Sukriti, a resident of Chirag Delhi, said the journey from Chirag Delhi to central Delhi normally takes around 20–25 minutes. However, today, heavy traffic had already begun building up near the Lajpat Nagar side, and by the time she reached Supreme Court area, traffic had slowed to a crawl. What usually is a quick ride ended up taking her close to 50 minutes.
