Nazariya, a queer feminist resource group, said that the 24-year-old woman approached it seeking protection from alleged abuse by her marital family. The organisation accepted her case and provided interim relief and shelter, under constitutional and legal provisions."In line with due process, the survivor chose not to meet her marital or natal family and recorded her statement at Fatehpur Beri and Juanapur police stations," the group said. But "members of Bajrang Dal, along with the survivor's family, intervened and began circulating false allegations of kidnapping and forced conversion. These claims are entirely baseless," Nazariya said.Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said that every adult has the right to lead life as per his or her preference. "Like we highly respect every individual's freedom to live life at their own will, we strongly condemn any forced religious conversion," he said.Police said there was no complaint filed in the matter.
