PWD Seeks Consultant for Overhaul of MAMC Healthcare Hub
New Delhi: A month after Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced plans to redevelop the Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) campus and its associated hospitals, Public Works Department (PWD) has initiated the process by inviting bids for a consultant to prepare a comprehensive redevelopment blueprint for the healthcare and academic complex.
Located in central Delhi, the MAMC campus constitute one of the capital’s busiest govt healthcare hubs, catering to a massive daily patient load from Delhi as well as neighbouring states. The cluster remains a critical component of the city’s public health infrastructure.
According to tender documents, the redevelopment exercise will be carried out in three phases. The first phase will involve preparation of a detailed master plan with a 30-year vision, while ensuring compliance with local body regulations, Delhi Development Authority (DDA) norms and other statutory provisions.
The second phase will focus on a structural audit and technical evaluation of existing buildings. Based on the findings, the consultant will prepare modern designs, layouts and redevelopment proposals for new infrastructure. The final phase will involve preparation of tender documents and providing technical assistance during the bidding process to facilitate timely execution of the project.
Plans will include multi-storey residential complexes, hostels, nursing facilities, a fire station, sanitation systems, internal roads and improved campus connectivity. The project will also examine provisions for advanced security systems, cafeterias, and multi-level parking structures to support the growing needs of patients, students and staff.
