Lost & found: Police recover Israeli tourist’s purse left in auto

New Delhi: For an Israeli tourist, it was a distressing start to her India visit when she left her purse containing cash, ATM cards and other valuables in an auto in central Delhi’s Paharganj early on Tuesday morning. However, Delhi Police managed to trace the auto and recover the purse within a few hours.

She took the auto from outside the airport. "I arrived in India in the morning by a flight that had taken all night. I got a vehicle from the airport to the main bazaar and forgot my wallet. It was a disaster and I cried all morning. Then I called Delhi Police,” she said in a video shared by police on social media.

The missing purse contained Rs 12,600, three ATM cards and other essential personal belongings. Cops at Paharganj police station examined CCTV footage from the area to identify the auto. After tracking its route, officers traced the driver and found the purse with everything intact.

“Delhi Police found my wallet and now I have my wallet with all the things that I need,” she added, thanking police for their prompt action.
