New Delhi : The
Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has launched pilot projects using drones, LiDAR mapping and Digital Twin technology to identify unassessed and under-assessed properties, a move aimed at strengthening property tax collection and creating a comprehensive digital inventory of the capital’s civic assets.
The civic body on Tuesday signed MoUs with four agencies to undertake drone-based geospatial surveys and technological demonstrations across select areas in Delhi.
The pilots will employ aerial drone surveys, 3D city modelling, GIS-based asset mapping and advanced data analytics to generate highly accurate digital representations of urban areas. The technology is expected to help authorities identify properties that are either outside the tax net or paying lower taxes than applicable.
According to the MCD, the projects will be carried out at no financial cost to the civic body, with participating agencies bearing the expenditure for surveys and demonstrations.
