Group planned attacks on temple and dhaba: Probe
New Delhi: Investigation into the case involving the arrest of nine alleged operatives linked to the Pakistan ISI-backed Shahzad Bhatti module revealed that the group reportedly planned coordinated attacks on a historic temple in Delhi, a popular dhaba along the Delhi-Sonipat highway, and a military camp in Hisar.
Investigators said the accused planned to first target police personnel and paramilitary forces deployed at the temple premises before launching an attack on the religious site itself. The objective was to neutralise the security presence on the ground and then strike the temple.
Reconnaissance of the temple was allegedly carried out by one of the arrested operatives. These were later shared with a Pakistan-based handler, investigators said.
In another plan, the module allegedly intended to carry out a hand grenade attack on a busy dhaba along the Delhi-Sonipat highway, officials said.
Interrogation also revealed that a military camp in Hisar was on the target list, they said.
