DU law students demand dean’s ouster

NEW DELHI: The law faculty of Delhi University saw another protest by members of the

Delhi University Students Union

(DUSU) on Saturday. The protesters raised objections over the alleged police attacks on students and demanded the resignation of the dean, Ved Kumari, for the delay in the notification of the attendance list. The dean, however, said that enough relaxations were given to those students who did not have adequate attendance and “they will not get admit cards” for the exam.

The Campus Law Centre saw an assembly of protesters for a third consecutive day, while many students were collecting their admit cards for the exams starting from December 20. The protesters raised objections over the detention list which had names of several students who missed out on getting the adequate 70% attendance set by the

Bar Council of India

. They demanded a relaxation in the norms as it could jeopardise the career of many students,” said Amit Tanwar, DUSU president.
