Delhi MCD Election Results 2022 Updates: Nearly 55% women among AAP winners

Delhi MCD Election Results 2022 Live Updates: Of the 134 AAP candidates who managed to win MCD elections, at least 71 are women. That means nearly 55% of the victorious AAP candidates are women, according to the state election commission data. The MCD poll results for all 250 wards were declared on Wednesday. While AAP gained majority by winning 134 seats, BJP and Congress won 104 and nine seats, respectively. AAP had fielded 138 women candidates whereas BJP and Congress nominated 136 and 129, respectively. In BJP, of the 136 women candidates, 52 managed to win. Shagufta Chaudhary, a woman candidate from Congress, managed to win with a huge margin of 15,193 votes. The Delhi MCD results are out now. Sisodia thanks Delhi for AAP's win in MCD polls, says 'world's biggest and most negative' party defeated

Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia thanked the people of Delhi for voting his party to victory in the MCD polls and said it was their mandate that helped it defeat the "world's biggest and most negative party". While the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has crossed the majority mark of 126, the BJP has won 99, according to the latest State Election Commission figures. The Congress was lagging far behind, winning just seven seats. Of the 250 wards under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the AAP has won 131 seats and was ahead in three.

The Aam Aadmi Party has crossed the majority mark of 126 in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) polls, while the BJP has got 97, the latest State Election Commission figures show. According to numbers available at 2 pm, the AAP has won 130 seats and was ahead in four. The MCD has 250 wards and the simple majority mark is 126.

The Congress was a distant third after winning five wards while Independent candidate Shakila won in Seelampur. Congress' Shagufta Chaudhary won in Chauhan Banger, while AAP's transgender candidate Bobi won from Sultanpuri-A defeating her Congress' Varuna Dhaka by over 6,700 votes. Sultana Abad of the AAP won the Jama Masjid ward, while party candidate Sarika Chaudhary defeated Congress' Farhad Suri by a margin of 244 votes in Daryaganj. BJP's Alka Raghav emerged victorious in Laxmi Nagar by a margin of 3,819 votes. The party's Rohini D candidate Smita also registered a win. AAP's Ankush Narang has won from Ranjeet Nagar.
