Court seeks report on segregation of complaints in riots case
New Delhi: A Delhi court has directed the cops concerned to submit a concrete report on action taken so far in segregating the complaints relating to different incidents of the northeast Delhi riots. Police were earlier directed to segregate the complaints relating to incidents of different dates, which were clubbed into a single FIR.
On April 4, the court was informed that complaints regarding incidents dated February 24, 2020 were being segregated and separate proceedings would be initiated on those complaints.

“However, in response to the query of the court, it could not be explained by investigating officer (IO) and special public prosecutor as to in this period of 3 ½ months, what steps have been taken in respect of segregated complaints regarding incident dt. 24.02.2020. Much of the time has elapsed and the investigating agency can not afford to waste further time, in the name of taking separate action on those complaints,” said additional sessions judge Pulastya Pramachala.
The court directed the IO to file a concrete report of action taken on the complaints by the next date of hearing, August 3. It further asked DCP (North East) to look into the matter.
The special public prosecutor submitted that a new site plan was required to be filed consolidated in nature in respect of the respective positions of place of incident with regard to the complaints. “On the next date, the SHO and ACP concerned shall appear in person along with a concrete report of action taken so far in this case, for the purpose of prosecution in this case as well as for the purpose of action taken in respect of segregated complaints,” the court said.
