Court Orders Framing of Charges Against Amanatullah Khan
New Delhi: A Delhi court on Thursday ordered the framing of charges against MLA Amanatullah Khan under sections 323, 341 and 506 of the IPC in a criminal case involving allegations of voluntarily causing hurt, wrongful restraint and criminal intimidation.
The court also dismissed an application moved on behalf of Khan seeking “appropriate directions for fair investigation” in the matter, orally observing that there was sufficient material on record to proceed with the investigation. A detailed order is yet to be released.
The case dates back to 2023, when the prosecution alleged that Khan interfered with infrastructural work and got into an altercation with workers installing CCTV cameras near Jamia Millia Islamia. Subsequently, an FIR was registered against him in Oct 2023.
Additional judicial magistrate Paras Dalal dismissed the defence plea seeking a fair investigation and listed the matter for further arguments on charge on May 29.
