DEHRADUN: Initiating probe against Damyanti Rawat, a close associate of former cabinet minister Hark Singh Rawat, a three-member committee has been formed by the state government to investigate the financial misappropriation worth Rs 20 crore.
As per the allegations, Damyanti, who was former secretary of the Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board of the department of labour of Uttarakhand, had remitted the money sans adequate formalities. She is currently serving as the block education officer.
She has been accused of transferring Rs 20 crore as loan to Employees State Insurance Scheme without permission from the competent authority and administrative permission in favour of a non-administrative financially approved project of medical college in Kotdwar. These transactions are labelled as violation of financial rules by the state government.
The committee has been formed by the secretary of state education department Ravinath Raman and will be headed by the commissioner of labour department Sanjay Kumar. The three-member committee is expected to submit the report within 15 days of being assigned the probe.
In September 2021 too, a notice was served to Damyanti, and she had claimed all the allegations to be baseless.
