DEHRADUN: Five persons were killed and seven others injured as a jeep fell into a gorge in
Chamoli district on Thursday afternoon. After the initial treatment at the Primary Health Centre of Pokhari, the injured have been referred to
Karnprayag Community
Health Centre.
The mishap reported around 1:30 pm when a jeep was moving from Pokhari to
Harishankar. Near Ganiyala village, the driver lost control of the vehicle and it fell in the gorge.
People team with the help of locals conducted the rescue operation. While five of the 12 persons seated in the vehicle died, seven others were injured. According to police the reason behind the mishap was still unclear.
The deceased were identified as Sawar Singh (60),
Hari Singh
(77),
Ashadi Devi
(63),
Ghoom Singh
(29) and Basi Devi (30). All the five deceased were of Chamoli district and were going toward Harishankar area when the mishap occurred.
