1k tuition-free online MBA scholarships for women by Doon-based university
DEHRADUN: Dehradun-based university UPES has announced a women-focused scholarship initiative under which 1,000 women across India will receive full tuition fee waivers for its Online MBA programme.
The initiative, titled “1,000 Women – 1,000 Dreams”, has been launched ahead of International Women’s Day on March 8, and aims to expand access to higher education and leadership training for women from different professional and social backgrounds.
Of the total scholarships, 300 have been earmarked for women from armed forces families, including serving women personnel of the Army, Navy and Air Force, as well as spouses and daughters of serving or retired defence personnel. Another 250 scholarships will be offered to women working in the technology and start-up sectors.
The remaining 450 scholarships will be open to women applicants across the country, including eligible female staff members of the university.
UPES vice-chancellor Sunil Rai said the programme seeks to support women seeking to advance their careers through management education.
The university said the dedicated scholarships for women in technology and start-ups are intended to support participation in sectors where women remain underrepresented globally.
According to a communique from the university, the initiative extends its earlier efforts to support defence families and promote women’s leadership through academic programmes. The university launched “Project Shakti” in 2020 as part of its women’s empowerment initiatives aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal on gender equality, the communique added.
