SALEM: Deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin said on Saturday that a Constitution Amendment Bill on delimitation was defeated in Lok Sabha on Friday because of the efforts of “Thalaivar Stalin.”While campaigning for DMK alliance candidates in Erode, Salem and Namakkal districts, Udhayanidhi said the party had helped defeat the Bill and resisted attempts to reduce the strength of Tamil Nadu in parliament. He projected DMK as a “welfare-and-development govt” and said the AIADMK–BJP alliance was working against the interest of Tamil Nadu. Udhayanidhi highlighted the projects implemented in the Salem-Erode-Namakkal region by the DMK govt. They included a Rs 132crore combined drinking water scheme for the Modakurichi constituency and a bus stand at Solar in Erode district named after freedom fighter Maaveeran Pollan. He accused the BJP of pushing Hindi and using education funds to pressure Tamil Nadu into adopting a three-language policy.
