Elderly man murdered, his wife raped near Krishnagiri

KRISHNAGIRI: An unidentified man murdered a 70-year-old man and raped his 60-year-old wife in their farmhouse in Krishnagiri district in the early hours of Monday.The couple lived alone in their farmhouse. On Sunday night, the man slept outside the house while his wife slept inside. An unidentified man hit his head with a boulder. Hearing his screams, his wife came out. “The assailant forcefully took her inside the house and raped her," said an officer at the Singarapettai police station. Hearing the man’s cries, neighbours rushed to the the farmhouse and found him lying in a pool of blood. He had died by then. The assailant had fled the scene before the neighbours arrived.The woman was admitted to Uthangarai Government Hospital. Police registered a case and began investigations.
