ERODE: The district rural development agency (DRDA) officials staged a sit-in and stayed away from work across the district on Monday demanding the government to full their charter of demands.

Talking to reporters, DRDA Officials Association district president V Ravichandran said that they had already announced four stages of protests. “We carried out the third stage of our protest on Monday by staging sit-in and staying away from work,” he said. He said that more than 700 officials participated in the protest.

S Muthan, 45, who was working in the Thalaimalai panchayat union in Thalavadi taluk, died of cardiac arrest on Saturday. The DRDA officials claimed that Muthan died of duty pressure. “We have been undergoing hectic work pressure every day,” Ravichandran added. Meanwhile, the DRDA officials demanded solatium for Muthan’s family.
