Coimbatore: Roman catholic priests in the city visited the ‘Kovai Shaheen Bagh’ protest site at Aathupalam Junction here on Thursday and extended support to the protesters.
A total of 15 priests, led by vicar general father John Joseph Stanis, visited the protest site. They said they wished for peace in the country and a society without religious discrimination. They expressed solidarity with the people who were protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act.
The Shaheen Bagh protest entered the ninth day on Thursday. The protesters said they wouldn’t call off the protest until the CAA, National Register of Citizens and the National Population Register were repealed. tnn
