TVK cadres upset over delay in Vijay’s swearing in
Chennai: Disbelief and disappointment spread among TVK cadres on Thursday after uncertainty emerged over party president Vijay's swearing-in as the chief minister.
Supporters from several districts had arrived in Chennai after hearing that preparations were underway for the swearing-in ceremony at Nehru Stadium. However, the delay in govt formation and the governor seeking proof of majority support left many gathered outside Nehru Stadium and his Neelankarai residence emotional.
Malathy, a supporter from MMDA Colony, said, "We came happily thinking he would take oath today. But the gates are closed and we do not know anything. It is hurting to see him (Vijay) face so many obstacles even after winning the elections."
Velmurugan, who travelled overnight from Coimbatore, said, "This is the first time I wanted to see him in person during such a moment. Since morning we have only been watching the news and waiting. Such troubles are not new to him and he has overcome them every time since his cinema days."
Meanwhile, at Neelankarai, a TVK supporter broke down in tears and showered flowers outside Vijay's residence, praying that he would become the next chief minister of Tamil Nadu without facing further obstacles. Despite the uncertainty, several cadres said they continued to believe Vijay would eventually form the govt.
The mood within the rank and file is also shifting from disappointment to frustration. "The people of Tamil Nadu have given a clear mandate. The governor trying to object to it is not right. We too wanted to organise state-wide demonstrations alongside Congress, but our party has asked us to wait patiently for the next two days as we hope the communists and VCK will extend support," said a TVK district secretary from south TN.
However, the party's core team has maintained calm, saying its response would depend on the governor's next move after other parties announce their stand on TVK's request for support. Thiruparankundram MLA CTR Nirmal Kumar said, "As per law, the governor should invite the single largest party to form the govt. People have voted for TVK and he must definitely approach us. We ourselves have already submitted our claim. We will wait for a day."

I think TVk did not expect such massive victory, and, if they had anticipated winning , a target of 125 seats must have gone into their campaign.Proper identification of candidates is necessary prior to elections.Read allPost comment
