Chennai: Centuries by Tamil Nadu openers B Sai Sudharsan and N Jagadeesan for the second consecutive match powered the side to a 57-run victory against Goa in their Vijay Trophy encounter in Bengaluru on Thursday. This is TN’s third win in four matches in the tournament, with the first game against Bihar called off due to rain.
TN amassed 373-4 after Goa won the toss and chose to field first.
Sai Sudharsan (117 off 112 balls) and Jagadeesan (168 off 140 balls) brought up their third 100-plus opening partnership in a row, adding 276 runs in 40.4 overs. Jagadeesan scored his third ton on the trot. Pacer Arjun Tendulkar and all-rounder Suyash Prabhudesai took two wickets apiece for Goa.
Goa began their chase strongly, compiling 102 runs for the first wicket. Despite four half centuries and some decent partnerships, however, Goa could not keep up with the asking rate and ended with 316-6 in their 50 overs. TN used seven bowlers, six of whom picked a wicket each.
Pondicherry lose to Bengal: Bengal defeated Pondicherry by eight wickets in their Vijay Hazare Trophy match in Ranchi on Thursday.
