CHENNAI: TVK candidate in Tuticorin constituency A Srinath, who is a film actor, became the first candidate to register a win for the party. Srinath won by a margin of more than 20,000 votes.
TVK has been leading in 109 constituencies and is on its way towards single largest majority (118 seats are required for forming majority).

Srinath was a close ally of actor and TVK president Vijay. He was leading from the beginning. Srinath had social welfare minister Geetha Jeevan and former AIADMK minister S T Chellapandian pitted against him.
TVK president Vijay and his key associates such as party general secretary N Anand, deputy general secretary Aadhav Arjun, spokesperson A Rajmohan and others were leading in Chennai.
In DMK, chief minister M K Stalin was still trailing by around 7,000 votes at the end of 14 rounds. Chennai, which was considered a DMK fort, has been breached by TVK as Vijay's party is leading in 14 out of 16 constituencies. It is trailing in Chepauk-Triplicane where the deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin is leading and in Harbour constituency where HR and CE minister P K Sekarbabu is leading.
