The India Meteorological Department (IMD) released 24-hour rainfall data, Velankanni in Nagapattinam district recorded the highest rainfall in the state with 17cm, Nagappattinam recorded 15cm and Karaikal 14cm.

Orange alert for four districts ​

IMD issued an orange alert for four districts for Tuesday including Chengelpet and Kancheepuram and yellow alert was issued for 15 districts including Chennai and Tiruvallur as they would get heavy rainfall in isolated places.

A low-pressure area is set to form in the Southeast Bay of Bengal in 24 hours, driven by upper air cyclonic circulation over the southwest Bay of Bengal. It will move west-northwest and likely develop into a depression by November 16.

Tamil Nadu experienced intensified northeast monsoon activity, leading to substantial rainfall in Chennai and several coastal areas on Tuesday, attributed to a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal.
