tweet

by

Chengalpet Superintendent of Police Suguna Singh

, explaining the dangers of speeding on roads and performing tricky stunts, has gone viral on social media platforms.

The SP’s tweet, “If you fail to show restraint on a four feet road, you will go six feet under,” included a video in which a biker is seen falling and sustaining severe injuries on the road after performing various stunts. While taking a zig zag ride on the road, the biker is seen losing control of the vehicle and falling on the road. The video was shot by a biker who is behind him. The video also shows the first man falling near another biker, who had a narrow escape, and two women running away in fear.

The SP came down heavily on youths who resort to taking part in impromptu bike races and perform stunts on the roads, just for showing off. Sharing the video, he urged the

bikers

not to undertake to perform such stunts for the sake of posting them on the social media sites to get likes and shares as they would end up risking their lives.

Soon after the SP’s post went viral, several

netizens

demanded action against the speeding bikers. A few appealed to police to act tough against those involved in bike races and stunts. They said that these young people were not putting just their lives at risk but also the lives of others. They urged the police to collect the details of such bikers who post such videos on the sites and punish them. They also asked police to post these videos in schools and colleges to create road safety awareness.

The SP has been posting awareness messages on cyber-crime incidents, accident black spots, mobile phone thefts, child protection issues and bank frauds.
