TRICHY: DMK president
M K Stalin on Tuesday said Prime Minister
Narendra Modi and
Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami had failed to pay attention to the needs of people in the Cauvery delta districts who were affected by
cyclone Gaja that lashed the area in November last.
Stalin was addressing voters at Kudavasal near Tiruvarur while campaigning for M Selvarasu of the CPI, who is the DMK front’s candidate in Nagapattinam Lok Sabha constituency, and DMK’s K Kalaivanan, who is contesting in Tiruvarur byelection.
Stalin said he had reached the affected hamlets soon after cyclone Gaja had left a trail of destruction. He criticised the chief minister for visiting the affected areas in a helicopter, that too after several days.
Stalin said nobody can replace the late party chief M Karunanidhi. “I don’t need to campaign much here as Tiruvarur is Kalaignar’s birthplace. You have to dethrone both fascist Narendra Modi and useless Palaniswami (Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami).”
DMK sources said Stalin would conclude his election campaign in Tiruvarur town on Tuesday evening, the assembly segment which his father and former chief minister M Karunanidhi had represented.
