Tamil Nadu: Man fights with wife, then smashes 20 cars

CHENNAI: A man went on a vehicle-damaging spree, smashing at least 20 vehicles parked cars at a second-hand car showroom garage in Kolathur. Reason: He had a qurrel with his wife over a domestic issue.

The issue came to light after a second-hand car showroom owner, Meeran, 45, of Iyyappan Nagar in Kolathur, lodged a complaint saying that he had kept at least 20 cars in his garage for sale. On Monday morning he found all the cars were damaged, he said.

Based on the complaint, the Rajamangalam police team collected CCTV camera footage in the vicinity and pursued it. They then arrested the suspect, identified as Boobalan, 35, of Korattur. He was detained at a drug de-addiction centre in the city-suburban in August. He came out of the centre two days ago and he went straight up to the garage and damaged the vehicles suspecting his wife's fidelity.

Rajamangalam police registered a case, arrested Boobalan and remanded him in judicial custody.
