Chennai:
Madras high court has quashed a two-year-old poll rule violation case registered against Union minister
L Murugan during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Justice A D Jadish Chandira passed the order while allowing a plea moved by Murugan seeking to quash the case.
It was alleged that Murugan, along with his supporters, entered Avinashilingeswarar temple in Avinashi wearing a cloth printed with BJP's lotus symbol and carried out campaigning in a manner that caused disturbance to devotees.
M Parthiban, Tiruppur district lawyers' wing organizer of DMK, had lodged a complaint at Avinashi police station.
On Thursday, the court stated that there was insufficient evidence to support the allegations and ordered that the case be quashed. TNN
