DMK councillor, husband and daughter die by suicide in TN’s Rasipuram

NAMAKKAL: A DMK councillor, her husband and their daughter died by suicide in Rasipuram in Namakkal district of Tamil Nadu.

The deceased have been identified as A Devipriya, 46, who was the ward 13 councillor in Rasipuram municipality, her husband Arun Lal, 53, and their her daughter Monisha, 18. Arun Lal was the DMK deputy secretary in Rasipuram town. Monisha completed Class 12. The couple’s elder daughter is working in a private company in Bengaluru.

On Wednesday morning, neighbours of the councillor peeped into the house as the door remained locked from inside even after 9am. The neighbours found the trio hanging from the ceiling of the house and alerted the Rasipuram town police.

The police broke open the door and sent the bodies to the Government Hospital in the town for postmortem.

Rasipuram DSP D K K Senthil Kumar said the reason for suicide was not known.

A case was registered.
