CPI, MNM and AAP holds talks with DMK

Chennai: Communist Party of India (CPI), Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) and Aam Admi Party (AAP) held seat-sharing talks with DMK on Wednesday. However, all three parties refused to divulge details of the number of seats they sought from the DMK for the upcoming assembly election.

While MNM and AAP held talks in the morning, CPI held talks in the evening. CPI state secretary M Veerapandian held a second round of talks with DMK. After the talks, Veerapandian told reporters that CPI will hold a third round of talks on Thursday to finalise the number of seats.


MNM, led by its general secretary A Arunachalam, told reporters after holding talks that they discussed the number of seats based on the data on votes obtained in the previous election across the state.

AAP, led by its state coordinator S A N Vasigaran, said AAP expects a number of seats based on its party stature, and it will contest on its own symbol, 'Broom'. "Since we are a national party, we will contest on our own symbol," Vasigaran said.
