Israel has stepped in with a key clarification amid political debate in India over the government’s response to the escalating Middle East conflict. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not briefed about the military strikes on Iran during his recent visit because the decision was taken only after he had left Israel. Speaking at the Raisina Dialogue 2026, Sa’ar explained that the Israeli security cabinet approved the strikes early on February 28 following the collapse of negotiations between the United States and Iran. Earlier, Israeli Ambassador Reuven Azar also said the plan did not exist during Modi’s meetings in Israel. The clarification counters claims that New Delhi had advance knowledge of the attack and highlights how quickly military decisions unfolded in the region.
