Coaching for supplementary exams to kick off this week
Chennai: Students who failed to pass their Class XII board exams in 2025-2026 will be offered special coaching for the upcoming supplementary exams scheduled to be held from June 29 to July 7. School education secretary B Chandramohan urged teachers to devote special attention to coaching the students who failed to pass the exam. This year, 37,960 out of 7.91 lakh candidates statewide and 2,874 out of 62,481 students in Chennai failed to pass the Class XII exam. Students who have arrears from Class XI, can also attend the coaching.Following the orders, chief education officers of several districts have started issuing written orders/verbal instructions to commence the classes and chart a schedule. "We commenced the coaching on Tuesday in our schools. Coaching will be provided in one school per block. Decisions on coaching method, subjects and teachers will be made at a meeting on Thursday," said M Kabir, CEO, Chennai."Schools are instructed to conduct tests for students on the days when special classes are held and maintain a separate mark register for the same. School heads must prepare a timetable for the special classes and send it to the respective CEO's office by email," a letter from the CEO's office in Ranipet said. A section of school heads, however, have flagged concerns over the coaching as it would eat into vacation days of teachers.
