CM writes to global aerospace companies to invest in state
CHENNAI: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday personally reached out to the global heads of nine leading companies in the aerospace sector and invited them to look at opportunities to invest in the state. In his letter, Palaniswami explained the inherent advantages and excellent support for business available in the state, besides promising customized incentive package to their companies.The letters were individually addressed to Gregory J Hayes, CEO of United Technologies, General Electric CEO H Lawrence Culp Jr, Boeing CEO David Calhoun, Lockheed Martin CEO Marillyn Hewson, Safran CEO Philippe Petitcolin, Rolls Royce CEO Warren East, Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury, Leonardo CEO Alessandro Profumo and Honeywell CEO Darius Adamczyk.The initiative is part of the state’s plans to reach out to global investors due to the impact caused by Covid to the world economy. Many overseas industries are likely to exit from certain countries and relocate their manufacturing activities in countries like India. Tamil Nadu has already constituted a special investment task force, headed by chief secretary, for attracting such investors, a release from the state Industries department said.
The initiatives are yielding results as evidenced by the fact that the state recently signed MoUs for 17 foreign investments for ?15,128 crore, the release added.Palansiwami wrote to CEOs of 13 global electronics majors including Apple, Amazon, Samsung and HP last week.
