Ailing wild elephant dies in Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve

ERODE: A 30-year-old female elephant in Kadambur forest range, in the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve (STR) ) died without responding to treatment on Sunday.
Villagers in Yekathur hamlet had alerted forest officials after spotting the distressed elephant on Friday. Forest veterinarians had since been attending to the sick elephant.
Kadambur forest range officer G Puviarasan said, "Veterinarians administered glucose and essential medicines to the elephant.But she succumbed to her ailments around 2pm on Sunday."
Forest officials conducted an autopsy and later buried the carcass.
