CHENNAI: After former minister K A Sengottaiyan issued a 10-day deadline for AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami to reinstate those removed from the party, Palaniswami responded by removing Sengottaiyan from all his party postings. Supporters who had met with Sengottaiyan before the deadline were also stripped of their positions. According to an AIADMK release, Sengottaiyan has been removed from his roles as the party's organization secretary and Erode Suburban West District Secretary, though he will continue as a party cadre. Other affected leaders include Nambiyur North Union Secretary Thambi (K A Subbramaniyan), Nambiyur South Union Secretary M. Eswaramoorthy (Chennai Mani), Gobichettipalayam West Union Secretary N. D. Kurinji Nathan, Anthiyur North Union Secretary M. Devaraj, Erode Zone IT Wing Deputy Secretary K. S. Mohankumar, Athani Town Panchayat Secretary S. S. Rajesh, and Deputy Secretary Velu (T. Marudhamuthu). The announcements followed a meeting held by Palaniswami with the party's senior functionaries in Dindigul regarding the deadline issued by Sengottaiyan.
