CHENNAI: The state transport department will operate 1,070 special buses in addition to routine buses across Tamil Nadu from Friday to Sunday to clear the extra rush of passengers during the weekend and in view of the Aadi Peruku festival (Sunday, August 3).
This includes 690 special buses operated from Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus (KCBT) Kilambakkam in Chennai to Madurai, Trichy, Coimbatore, Salem and Tirunelveli on Friday and Saturday.
Additionally, another 110 buses would depart from Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT), Koyambedu, on these two days to Tiruvannamalai, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur and Bengaluru, said an official release.
While another 20 buses will depart from Madhavaram terminus, nearly 250 buses will be operated in other districts.
Around 15,800 passengers had reserved bus tickets online, the release said, adding that others could book online on www.tnstc.in or on TNSTC mobile app.
