‘Terror plot foiled’: Punjab cops seize IED in Amritsar
Amritsar: Punjab Police's state special operations cell (SSOC) here has busted a Pakistan-backed terror module and seized a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED), a foreign-made pistol, and ammunition. Police said the action has helped foil a significant terror plot. One accused was also arrested in connection with the case, informed director general of police Gaurav Yadav here on Wednesday.

He said the operation was based on intelligence inputs. Preliminary investigation revealed the accused was in direct contact with a Pakistan-based handler through encrypted communication platforms.Authorities suspect the terror consignment was pushed across the international border and later retrieved from a pre-designated location on the outskirts of Amritsar.Security agencies disclosed the recovered IED was intended to carry out targeted attacks in multiple states, including Punjab and Delhi. An FIR was registered at SSOC police station in Amritsar. An official said an investigation was underway to trace backward and forward linkages, and dismantle the entire terror network involved in the conspiracy.
